Description of the INCI name functionality

INCI stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, a system used to uniquely identify cosmetic ingredients such as waxes, oils, pigments, and other chemicals. These identifiers are assigned according to the rules established by the Personal Care Products Council.

How to input ingredients into Pilario

There are two ways to input specific ingredients:

  1. Using the ingredients name
Input your specific nomenclature in the first column (name column). The system will check the synonym table and propose the INCI name if there’s a match (e.g. “eau” becomes “water” in the INCI column). The system has over 3,000 INCI names and allows users to define their own synonym table.

You can contact us or read this article to learn how to map your nomenclature to the INCI names.
  2. Manual INCI search
If there’s no match or no synonym table is set up, the INCI Name column will remain empty. You can then manually search and select the appropriate INCI name from the database.

Each product typically contains between 20-30 INCI ingredients.
