This article explains how to import a beauty product in theEcoBeautyScore (EBS) model via the Excel import function
This guide assumes that you bought a licensee from the EcoBeautyScore Association, and therefore you have access to that EBS model.
In the article How to add a new product? we saw how we could add a beauty product starting from scratch and using the Pilario interface to input all the values. You can also use the import functionality to feed the system with a specific spreadsheet, follow the steps below to achieve so.
Filling the import template
A specific Excel spreadsheet is available in the resources section. This spreadsheet contains, not only the mandatory sheets to fill, but additional ones that can help you to know which values are available for each field.
In this example, we will be using a very much simplified version that can be downloaded by clicking on the image below.
This spreadsheet contains a single product in the first sheet, three ingredients, four packaging components and their materials.
Importing the product
To import the template, navigate to Imports > Manual and in the upper right corner click on Add imports.
This will bring you to a new window, where you will need to specify several fields.
The available fields are:
- Model: only EBS-Cosmetic is available and therefore selected by default. This is reserved in case future models are added to the association in the future.
- Transformer: in this case we select Excel, but we could use a CSV if we prefer.
- File: we will click to upload the file we edited in the previous step.
- Mode: selecting overwrite will overwrite all the parameters if the product is already present in the system identified by the ExternalId. Update, will append all the parameteres to an existing product with the same ExternalId if it is found in the system.
After input all those files and clicking on the Import button, we will be presented a message that the import process has been launched, and we can go back to the previous window to see the status of the import.
Important note. The Success message in the Status column, means that the process has successfully finished, but it doesn't mean that the products in the file were imported. You can check the import job (by clicking on it), and inspect the logs to see the output of the process.
For example, here we see a success job, but zero assets inserted due to a missing column "name":
Verifying the imported product
In the products page, we are using the filtering to locate the product that we have just imported.
Navigating quickly through the product we can see how the product contains the three defined ingredients and the four packaging components.
