The EBS model uses a harmonized database, based on the EU PEF method, to track the environmental impacts of ingredients and packaging in cosmetics.
The EcoBeautyScore (EBS) model relies on a common database that provides life cycle inventories and characterization factors for cosmetic ingredients, packaging materials, and life cycle activities.
This harmonized database forms a crucial part of the measurement system, covering:
- Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data in the background system, focusing on formula ingredients and packaging materials.
- Activity data in the foreground system, which includes generic parameters like use-phase data.
The database creation follows the EU PEF method and uses its “Guide for EF compliant data sets.”
